About Us
Bani’Adam Relief & Development Organization is a Somali Local NGO,
founded in 1991 in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Bani’Adam is a non-profit organization managed by Five-members of
Board Directors (BOD) headed by a chairperson who is elected every
five years. The board meetings are held on quarterly basis. The
organization is usually involved in the implementation of more than
one project, which are run by an appointed manager that is
accountable to the chairperson. A vice-chairperson, an auditor, a
treasurer and a secretary assist the chairperson in his duties.
BaniAdam has worked in several
regions of Somalia including Benadir, Middle Shabelle, Lower
Shabelle and Galgaduud for emergence and relief programs. Between
1991 and 1995, the NGO has implemented a number of programs that
repatriated displaced people and returnees. It also distributed food
and rehabilitated infrastructures funded by different donors.
In March 1996, the NGO has closely partnered and started development
projects with CARE Somalia to run an Agricultural seasonal credit
scheme, canal rehabilitation and construction of water structures.
These projects had an impact on alleviating rural poverty in the
agriculturally important area of Jenale in the Lower Shabelle
region. Bani Adam and Care Kenya became partners for Magazine
production that was aimed to improve the communication Link between
the refugees in Kenya Camps and those in Somalia.
Likewise, in the year 2000, Bani’Adam became partner with UNHCR in
rehabilitating the library faculty of Agriculture, Somali national
University funded by UNHCR. Since then, Bani’Adam and UNHCR have
jointly implemented different projects such as rural water supply
and sanitation project, rehabilitation of school and Market shelter
in Qoryoley District in L/Shabelle region.
In the year 2001, Bani’Adam also
became partner with Syd forum/SIRC Sweden and constructed Irrigation
structures, River Embankment and training for community empowerment
in Busley Daud, lower shabelle region. 2003 Bani’Adam became partner
with Novib in SOCSO-IS program (organizational capacity building).
In 2004 Bani’Adam became partner
with Concern World Wide in Water and Environmental Sanitation
Project in Awdhegle and Kurtunwarey district of Lower Shabelle
region.
2006 Bani’Adam has became partner
with UNHCR for Population tracking movement program, the activities
include, monitoring reports on IDPs situation in the country and
Monthly Meeting with population tracking movement partners and UNHCR.
